ENVIROMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR CLAYCOPTERâ„¢ TARGETS

WHAT'S IN A CLAYCOPTER TARGET?

GREEN LEAF MARK

CALDWELL ClayCopter Targets display the Intertek Green Leaf Mark on product packaging because being a good steward of the environment and preserving the outdoors for future generations is important to the folks at Caldwell. This mark means our product has been environmentally tested and related marketing claims have been verified for accuracy by an independent third-party testing, auditing, and certification body. In a controlled laboratory environment, ClayCopter targets achieve 78% biodegradability within 45 days, as tested by ASTM D5338-15 (2021). When subjected to the elements, ClayCopter targets turn to granules, far quicker than traditional clays, which can take years.

HOW ARE CLAYCOPTER TARGETS MADE?

ClayCopter targets are made of an agriculturally sourced bioplastic formula and other materials that break down when exposed to nature’s elements like water, heat, and microorganisms. Unlike traditional petroleum-based clays made with complex molecules, the Claycopter keeps things simple so it can return to the soil efficiently. The ClayCopter also does not harbor any known harmful substances or substances of very high concern found in other plastics that can harm humans, wildlife, and the environment. (See Testing Standards Below)

RESPONSIBLE RANGE USE

ClayCopter targets come in tubes to help easily clean up the field or the range after a fun day shooting. Use the empty tubes to pick up shotgun hulls or any other trash left on the range. ClayCopter tubes provide a built-in way to leave the range or field exactly how you found it.

STORAGE RECOMMENDATION

Because these targets are designed to biodegrade quicker than traditional clays, Caldwell recommends storing them in their original packaging and keep them in a dry location.

HOW CAN I UTILIZE CLAYCOPTER TARGETS AS AN ECO-FRIENDLY SOLUTION?

CALDWELL ClayCopter launchers and targets are now available in most outdoor retailers. Additionally, the targets are sturdy and lightweight enough to ship from popular online marketplaces.

  • If your local retailer doesn’t have them, ask them to contact us to get them in stock.
  • If your friends are conservation minded, and are looking for a “new way to clay” share this page with them.
